NEW: Join the JULY 27th “Twenty-Something Loss” FREE CONFERENCE CALL by clicking here.

Co-Led BY HOPE EDELMAN, author of Motherless Daughters, & Other mother loss experts

Founded by Hope Edelman & CLAIRE BIDWELL SMITH, LCPC, author and grief therapist

Did the death of your mother divide your life into a "before" and "after"?

Do you ever feel "stuck" at the age you were when your mother died?

Do you often feel adrift without a mother's guidance and care?

Do you sometimes feel more connected to a mother who died than to the mother who lived?

Have you ever longed to sit in a circle of women who "get it"?

If your answer to any of these questions is "Yes",

Motherless Daughters Retreats may be for you.

free support conference call: july 27th

Twenty-Something Mother Loss: On July 27th, join Hope Edelman, author of Motherless Daughters, and Allison Gilbert, author of Passed and Present, to learn more about mother loss in your 20s (but you don't have to be in your 20s now!).

In September 2019, Motherless Daughters Retreats will offer a retreat specifically for those who were in their 20s when their mothers died. No matter what age we are now, we discover a natural bond with others who share similar histories.
The retreat still has some spaces open! If you can't make it that weekend (or if you want to hear a little more before signing up), please join Hope and Allison for this free, 30-minute call on Saturday morning, July 27th at 10 PST / 1 EST.

Hope and Allison will discuss living with the grief during life events common for 20-somethings (graduations, weddings, having a child, etc.) and beyond. They will offer supportive information and healing strategies, as well as answer pre-submitted questions from listeners.

Please click on the button to the right and provide your email address to receive the number and access code to join the call. We’ll also send out a link afterward for a recorded version to all those on the list who couldn't make it!

Upcoming Retreats

A workshop led by Hope for up to 40 people, from 10 am to 4 pm, in various locations. Content is specific for either Early Loss or Adult Loss, depending on the workshop.

The flagship retreat: a 3-night / 4-day retreat led by Hope and a co-facilitator, with meals and accommodation included. Content is specific for either Early Loss, 20-something Loss, or Adult Loss, depending on the retreat.

A retreat for anyone who has gone through the Motherless Daughters’ Retreats, with meals and accommodation included. Any alumni are welcome to attend these 3-night / 4-day retreats, with content focused on what’s to come for your unique life.

Praise for Motherless Daughters Retreats

“I’m so glad I took the leap and registered for the retreat. Stepping into the Villa on the first evening, I instantly felt welcomed and part of the group. I was in the right place at the right time. I am thankful to Hope, Claire, and the 21 other women for their warmth, openness, support, and deep empathy.”
— Emily, Seattle
“It’s been almost twenty five years since my mom passed away, yet I feel her presence with me and within me more strongly now than ever. I am so grateful for the gift of this retreat and new insight.”
— Jeri, Los Angeles
“I didn’t really understand the impact this weekend would have on me until we were about a day and a half into it. I was nervous and unsure before walking through the front door even though I wanted to be on this retreat. I can’t really explain it, but for me, it was a magical experience. I guess a more grown up word would be transformative.”
— Brittany, Boston
“My experience at the retreat was truly transformative. Hope and Claire put together a weekend of deep reflection and kindness that enabled me to think through many of the feelings I’ve had for years. The opportunity to talk about mother loss with a group of women that really understand was amazing and the support that I continue to feel many weeks after the retreat is wonderful. I just wish I had done this sooner!”
— Sarah, San Francisco
